I am from San Diego, thinking about moving to San Antonio. Just wondering what the part would be considered the best?

The most upscale neighborhoods are

King William District - downtown (bad school district though, kids mostly go to private schools)

Alamo Heights Just north of downtown (older area but nice small city surrounded by SATX)

Olmos Park Area, lots of older large houses well kept up, near Alamo Heights.

MonteVista - a mix of older redone houses near downtown, is a historic district.

The other neighborhoods considered upscale are pretty much in the North Central to Northwest Areas. There are too many to name, but a few nice ones are Stone Oak/Sonterra Area (I live in one of the neighborhoods in this area and it is a nice area with good schools). Shavano Park, Some areas near La Canterra.

There are some nice areas outside the city limits north of 1604 primarily between Hwy 281 and I 10 west. I can't recall all the names but The Dominion pops into my head.

I also like Castle Hills, but there is a mix of very nice and just average to above average homes.

You might want to look at some areas in Comal County, just north of San Antonio, there are some very nice areas being developed and built, the taxes are lower and closer to the Lake and Hill Coutry areas.

I did check the crime statistics and growth for you as the first responder indicated that we are a high crime area.
San Diego** San Antonio** Texas** National
Growth
20% ^ ** 889%^ ** 22%^ ** 20%^
Crime
Total Crime Risk
138 ** 122 ** Higher than SA ** 100
Personal Crime Risk
138 ** 69 ** Higher than SA ** 100
Property Crime Risk
161 ** 168 ** Lower than SA ** 100

The San Antonio Statistics are for the North Central Area and would not reflect the statistics for the South or East sides where personal crime rates are much higher.

San Antonio is rapidly growing, as you can see from the North Central growth rate. We have moved from 9th largest US city to 7th in past 2 years and are now larger than Dallas. Most of the Growth has been on the North side of town, North east is growing but mostly communities just north of town.

it is the misperception. The south is risky? Yeah precise. I pass the South component time-honored to pass to college. The Southside looks greater like the Northside. there is vast house complexes and high-quality residences and there is vast shops. i'm severe! It looks clean and high-quality. Alot of people could be suprised in the event that they got here right down to the south component.

Right next to the police stations because you may have a chance to be safe-1to 80 odds?!
