Printed magazines are expensive and time consuming, even if they are printed yourself at home. To look professional, you need to have them printed by a proper printer which costs more. They also go out of date quickly as your range changes, and to put the latest news in, you need to reprint.
This is exactly the sort of situation where a website would be the best solution. Just have a supply of business cards printed with your website address on, and give those out to anyone who asks for a catalogue. Very very few people don't have access to the net nowadays.
You can create a nice website yourself, or have a designer do it for a one off cost. You can then update it yourself. You can keep it updated with your latest products easily, and put the latest news on the site, updated as often as you like for no extra cost, and will keep people coming back. You can also add forums to allow people to chat, which again retains visitors. Whereas a printed catalogue will probably end up in the bin, your site can keep on attracting people over and over.
On top of this you`ll get traffic from search engines, which you wouldn't get with a printed catalogue. Whereas a printed catalogue is not likely to get passed from person to person, your web address can be, effectively giving unlimited supplies of your catalogue!
In the future, you could start selling online, attracting new customers from around the UK, or even the world, giving you many new customers who would never be able to come into your shop.
The web is definately the way to go with this one, there are a huge number of ways it can benefit you!

Get an online store set up to show what you have, stick the URL on your business cards, and have a section on the website where you can have a monthly newsletter. Offer it as a mailing list via email, going out to whomever signs up, keep the email addresses and do an automatic send once you get the thing up and running. It'll get you more business as well.
The small New Age store The Crystal Ball here in the city did that, found that 90% of their customers were buying via online, and ended up closing the doors to the shop to turn stricktly mail order, business was that good.

I agree with claim, website is best bet with cheap advertising for it by way of business cards or posters in your windows.
another idea is to have a flyer advertising special offers of a new range that can be delivered with your local paper. if you call the paper up, they can point you in the right direction and help with the design etc.. if you supply photos and item details and price.

How often do you change your products? I know fashion trends are ALWAYS changing so you dont want to throw away money every month on such an expensive marketing tool. Have you thought of doing like a reference website?...websites are easy easy to change up and update...
Hope that helps :)
