You can book it 1 minute before as long as there is a room available

You can book a room by walking in.

I used to work at a hotel. There is a magic, break-even price that some are willing to settle for rather than have an empty room, so sometimes if you book last minute you can use that to your leverage. Of course, many are unwilling to budge on a price if there's the possibility they can fill the room at full price, so this really only works if it's last minute and they have a number of rooms available.

Unless it is a special motel with theme rooms and you want a certain theme you can book a room by just walking into the lobby and telling them you want a room. Most bigger motels/hotels are never booked to capacity so they have plenty of rooms available any hour of the day or night

Absolutely. You can book a room at any time, as long as there is one available... there's no reason why you can't walk up to the front desk and ask for a room - get your key & head on in. (Although a lot of larger hotels will book their rooms ahead of time & have those rooms on "reserve")

Well, as long as you only want one room and are not picky about where it is, then you could get it the same day. However, the hotels might be full. If you would rather, then I suggest a motel. Much cheaper, and usually have few reservations.

Sure, you can book last-minute--as long as rooms are available. You can even walk up to the counter and book; sometimes this is cheaper, or even phone the hotel even minutes before walking into reception.

I would not recommend that you do it online at the last minute. Call the hotel directly and reserve it.

It is possible that they only check online reservations once a day and may not find yours until it is too late. It all depends on how up to date the reservation system is.

If the reservation system allows it then I guess there is no problem.

I've done it before - as long as there is a room available, you can book it the same day.

you may find a better rate at check in without a reservation, the later the better. hotels will reduce their rate just to fill their rooms

if the hotel has a vacant room, they will give it to you.
but you may go to one hotel afteranother without finding a room. therefore, it's better to make a booking earlier.
