Why? That is the question [1]. It has a simple answer, one that makes more
sense than "42". In this article will reveal the answer to "Why?"

The answer is not the common and annoying "Why not?". If you expect to see
"Why not?" as the answer, stop expecting it this instant, as that answer is
wrong. Firstly, it's a stupid answer. Secondly, it's not an answer
(imparting information), it's a question (demanding information).

Some people will tell you that answering a question with another question is
a wise thing to do. But consider this situation: "Good grief! How do we
stop this train from hurtling off that cliff?" Answer: "What makes a cliff
a cliff and not a mountain?" Not only did this would-be wise man entirely
fail to be wise, but he entirely failed to save his life.

If "Why not" was an answer, which it is not, it would be a stupid answer.
Consider Newton sitting under the tree which at that moment drops an apple
on his head. Imagine that we send a time traveler to visit him in this
moment... Newton feels the bump on his head and muses "Hmm, why do things
fall downward?" The time-traveler then supplies him with this ready answer
"why not?". This sounds perfectly reasonable to Newton, as he had recently
received a knock in the head, so he takes a bite out of the apple and thinks
psychedelic thoughts. So gravity remains a mystery for all time, as do
digital watches, nuclear weapons and candy made out of unpronounceable
chemicals [2].

Now, Newton, Einstein, and in fact all great thinkers, do not happily accept
the question "why not?" as an answer, which is a very good thing for your
local galactic candy manufacturer and you local galactic atomic weapons
manufacturer.

So what is the answer to "Why?" The proper answer to any questions starting
with "why?" is "because (the subject of the question) is an idiot". A few
examples will clarify the principle:

Q: Why do people answer questions with a totally unrelated question?
A: Because they are idiots.

Q: Why do things fall downward?
A: because they are idiots. By their very nature things have no brains,
hence they are idiots and are not smart enough to invent antigravity.
Therefore they fall downward.

Q: Why do the denizens of Fomalhaut b refuse to fall downward and expend so
much energy on antigravity?
A: Because they are idiots, and don't realize a small fall won't hurt them.

Q: Why did God create the world?
A: Because he was an idiot.

Q: Why am I saying all this?
A: Because I'm an idiot.

Now that you've got the hang of it, practice it by answering a simple "why"
question. Why did you spend all this time reading this stuff?

[1] Ed.: And not "to be or not to be", which is most often claimed to be
that. It isn't even a question!
[2] Ed.: And time travel. Which prohibits the time-traveler to interfere
with Newton's thoughts, and provides Newton with an interesting paradox
to muse over as well. (Or does it?)

well i guess it depends on the question, but to make it have true meaning to it, there is no answer, everything happens for a reason..yhen he can go off showing examples as to why that statement is true
