first time anyone got bounced since they went to top 25 in 1989. happened a half dozen times back when it was the "top twenty". #4 army got dumped and #2 oklahoma got dumped, both in 1959. in 1960 #4 illinois got dumped

I don't know any off the top of my head.. but I highly doubt it's the first time someone has dropped out of the top 5 after the first game... plenty of times teams get overrated and pay for it.

This is the first time a 1-AA school has defeated a ranked opponent.. but App. St. is a better team than some of the 1-A teams that have defeated highly ranked opponents in the past.
