My 5-week old baby boy may have an inguinal hernia and his pediatrician recommended surgery at 6-months. In my reading of this condition I found that suregry should take place ASAP to avoid strangulation of the intestines. Does anyone have any insight to this?

My son has. I believe the urgency of the surgery varies between individual babies. If you're concerned, don't hesitate to obtain a second opinion. (My son did fine, by the way).
