Right wing fear mongering.I remember the old Bush tried to do it to Clinton too till Bill reminded him of a Bush family member who stood up against the Joe McCarty witch hunt.
By calling anyone left of the GOP or anyone who wants to correct some of the excesses of jungle capitalism a communist they hope to silence the left opposition or scare enough Americans in not voting for them.Moderate Democrats like Hillary,Obama and Edwards get labeled by the regressive right because they can't debate them on the issues so they hope to scare enough voters away.
When child labor was abolished a lot of the same arguments were used and supporters of abolition were called socialists and communists.
Wanting some corrections on the free market for the sake of humanity isn't socialism.In some area's the "free" market doesn't guarantee the best result

Americans are obsessed with it, because they are unable to have it within their political system since the McCarthy Witch hunts.
I like the concept of socialism - not communism - unfortunately it would work if not for the problem of human greed, it needs selfless individuals to function correctly. Greed undermines its effectiveness, and thus it always seems to fail, an Achilles heel. Capitalism on the other hand only works if you have greedy individuals, so pampers human faults.
Many Americans do not understand socialist issues much, in the same way that they do not understand other religious models - they simply have not had any opportunity to experience them. Lack of knowlege about something is usually the cause of an irrational fear.

Because the far left wing is pushing for socialism which isn't far from Communism. They are trying to turn this country into another Nazi Germany and most people know that it's not a god thing. Why do you think that Hillary has gotten a new nick name of Hitlary? She's pushing hard for this socialism/Nazi USA.
