That is correct, in space there is no up,down, left or right.

When they first tried bringing two spacecraft together in orbit they used the phrase, "There is only here and over there".

I used to imagine being in a huge void of space with nothing there. Just Me. It seemed to me that I would still sense up as the area that my head was in and down as the area where my feet were.

Now bring in a perfect sphere whose diameter is about equal to my height. Some imaginary plane where my feet are would intercept the bottom of the sphere. But if I turn myself upside down every things exactly the same?? So no part of the sphere would have any special meaning.....now if I could paint half the sphere...omg, i can't do this anymore, but u get the idea....kinda like newton's spinning bucket thoughts..

People only think that part of the Earth is upside down because when maps were being first created, European countries were drawn at the top.
In space there is no specific point of reference to determine which way is up.

yes, there is no direction if there is nothing to base that direction on like a planet. the reason you not upside down is that the earths gravity is pulling you towards to center. gravity is also the reason you can even be upside down. without it everything would be right side up.

Neither one right now. Wish I was being turned upside down by an awesome love, but it's not in the cards at this time.

Down means towards the center of the earth; up means exactly opposite from down. When you say upside down, you need to say with respect to what? You would be upside down with respect to someone next to you who is standing on his head.

Yes space has no direction.

To you, down is the centre of gravity of the very massive object under your feet.

Gravity.

In a word.

If you were standing at the South Pole, the only weird thing is that every direction you could walk in would be north.

Why would you be? What so special about the Antarctic Circle? I think you may mean the South Pole, which is in a completely different place. And then, no, you still would not be.

You have your feet on the ground, and as all penguins know, bird with feet on ground is right way up.

Actually, gravity defines upsidedowness, so where ever you go, down is always below the ground.
