Ok, so I've recently lost some weight and the jeans that I have are ok on the waist but the bottom width is just too wide. I just want the leg portion to be "thinner" kind of like the "skinny jeans" look, but not exactly... I've called several tailor shops and asked them to "hem" the jeans, but I dont think thats what its called. Does anyone know what the actual term is called? Thanks!

I'm sorry how about just save your self the trouble and go buy a pair of skinny jeans. Also don't be put off by jeans with a wider leg. This is the best time to buy and wear jeans because there is room to for both skinny and wide leg jeans. They are both pretty much in right now. It’s ok you can do both.

if they fall down you but its a BIG no, but if they are to tight then thats a no aswell. i think its really hard for guys to pull of skinnys and out of all my male friends only two are able to pull skinnys off and where them well. you really need to find the perfect pair of skinnys. also coloured skinnys dont look good on guys, epsepecially if you have purple skinnys and a green shirt. terrible. if your going to wear coloured skinnys go with your basic coloured tops black or white, so if you have purple skinnys id wear a balck shirt. try takeing one of you girl 'friends' shopping for skinnys with you, almost any girl would love to. skinnys dont look good on larger guys, they just emphasis on how large there but is, so its a good thing your on the slim side. skinnys arnt typically sterotyped as something gay, if you have the right pair and colour. and by your comment on rock im guessing you have balck skinnys, or dark denim. dark denim and balck skinnys work best with majority of all colours and usually look best. im not completely sure on what AE slim fit jeans are.. but if the your coloured skinnys work with the colour of your school shirt then it should look fine. just make sure your school approves before you wear them or they could make you change into a dorkyer from of acceptable pants. i hope this helps mate :]

It'd be better to tell them exactly what you want, even if you don't know the term. They might be able to tailor the jeans better for you, this way.

taken in and/or tapered would be the correct term to use them. Hemming just means shortening the length or inseam.

It's called taking the sides in.

No. They need to be "taken in" on the sides. Hemming them would be making them shorter.

just tell your tailor or seamstress that you would like to have some alterations done on your pants, then explain to them what you want. it's that simple! (I am a seamstress!) that's how I know.
