Sin is a term used mainly in a religious context to describe an act that violates a moral rule, or the state of having committed such a violation.
Of course what classes as a sin would depend on what religion you are.
there's lists here:

Sin is what keeps the churches powerful.
How can an innocent baby be a sinner?
There is no sin and there are no sinners.
Each of us are being the best we can be.

Sin is doing harm to someone. Sometimes this cannot be helped so can be forgiven by the person you have harmed. All that rubbish about masturbation, not going to church etc is just a load of nonsense

Let's not go there. This will only upset people of a morally upright nature who upon thinking about sin will be forced into dank cellars with whips and chains for self flagellation.

Be righteous, or face your judgment at his discression, or don't bother and have a good time!

Sin - translated from the original Greek manuscripts literally means "missing the mark". [The idea of an archer missing his bulls eye].

What is meant by this description is that mankind is missing the high standard of God's righteousness.

Sin is the opposite of God. And since God is everything, sin is literally NOTHING. Don’t believe the idea that sin is a creation. Sin is not a creation. That’s exactly why it’s called sin. Sin is simply the other choice you can make. To choose no to God.

Sin is trying to recieve from nothing, (anything other than God)

We were created for LOVE. GOd before creating anything Had himslef and was whole within Himself. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit shared in love.

You know when you have good news, or something amazing that you know, you want to share with areyone else, well...

Becuase God is Love, and love means to give, not to recieve, He created us so that He can share Himself with us. The nature of God is to share, therefore He created us to share His wholness with us. We were created with a desire in us to be filled, and we are always looking for that desire to be filled.
Sin is simply when we try to be filled by things that can't fill us up. God created us with that desire so that we can be filled by Him.

1 John 4:10
“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

Christ came to die for us becuase He loves us. Knowing that through this we would be saved.

Sin is going to other things to get filled, it could be anything in your life that you think will fill you up.

For example, people look to money for security thinking that that's going to be thier solution to their desire. You could also look for your self worth in what other people think about you, thinking that what your spouse, friends, parents, or others say will make you feel better. But God is constanlty showing us that we are special and nothing that we do makes us special. it's like a house.

There's 2 houses. One that's near the beach, another that's in a rural dry land. The one that's near the beach is all run down, and the paint is chipping off. The house in the rural dryland is brand spankin new, but the house that's near the beach is more expensive becuase more people want to live in it becuae it's near the beach. That house isn't more expensive because it has anything to offer, it's simply more expensive because more people want it.

(Houses get expensive, according to How many people want it)

we are special and wanted by the All Mighty God. That's what makes us special.

Sin is saying, no, I don't want to recieve from you God.

And we do that when we try to recieve from emptiness.

If you want to read: Romans 7: 7-25
