My motorcycle is stolen. I had paid 5k to a private party, but registered it for just 1000 bucks to avoid sales tax. the insurance company is asking me to mention the amount i paid, should i put the original cost (5k) or the amount registered (1000$). also, how much will i actually get back, will they pay me 1000$ (amount on the dmv registration) or will they pay me the kbb value or market value???

Dependent on your company, what is usually done is you receive the current market value minus any deductable.

Well if you try to claim it the way you wrote it, it's concidered fraud.
The only way you can possably get away with it without being charged for fraud is to say there was another trade+Cash, or servises offered. like tell them the bike was worth 5000$ but you paid 1000$ because he owed you $$ or something(But be sure to tell the guy what is happening so if anyone contact's him he is ready for Questions). incurance companys will do whatever they can to not pay you!! that's there job and how they stay in business. they will not hesatate to get record from Ministry of Transpertation or send claim info to them. just something to think about. and good luck with that.

What something is worth has nothing to do with how much you paid for it and that's what the insurance company will look at. Think about it, if you pay $2000 for a banged up '57 Chevy, do a frame off restoration and end up with a car worth $30,000, that's what it's worth, not $2000. If someone pays $50,000 for that car and it's value is $30,000, that's what it's worth, not $50,000.

Dear Dummshitt
They'll pay you ACV (actual cash value), someone at the insurance company will determine this amount. I don't know which figure to tell you to give, or if it'll make a difference in how much they'll give you.
