He beat David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, and J.D. Drew to 100 R.B.I.s.
Here is a guy that the f...ing Marlins gave up on to the Red Sox with Josh Beckett and G. Mota. Mota got traded to CLE for Coco Crisp! One of the most lop- sided trades in history! If not for Lowell, maybe the Yankees could actually gain a game once in a while. Red Sox fans, stop praying to King David and get the writers voting for Mike Lowell!

By the way, the Yankees will claim the Wild Card.

YOu raise a good question Brian, but I agree with most that A Rod and Ordonez have all -around better numbers.

But Lowell has been a silent glue for the Sox this year and should be on pace for a top-five and maybe top-three finish.

This is the first season he is on pace for an average of over .300

He is on pace for 21 HR, and 119 RBI

His career high in RBI is 105, he has 101 as of today and he is looking to shatter that.

Oritz has been hurt and Manny has been off this year.

Lowell who was a throw in for the Beckett deal, has done much better than a throw in

But the reason Lowell isn't in MVP disscussions, is because he has had 100 RBI, only 2 times before this season, 2001 and 2003.

He has hit over 30 career HR only once in his career.

He is not known for his bat, only for his glove

and in an big offensive season for Lowell, it happens when a bad glove season happens.

Lowell should be in MVP voting and is highly underrated.

Mike Lowell:
Avg- .333
HR- 18
RBI- 101
OBP- .386
SLG- .518

Magglio Ordonez:
Avg- .355
HR- 26
RBI- 120
OBP- .427
SLG- .593

Alex Rodriguez:
Avg- .308
HR- 45
RBI- 130
OBP- .415
SLG- .634

Ordonez and A-Rod are the top two contenders in the AL MVP race. Ordonez has the best average by far out of all three of them, as well as the best on base percentage (OBP) while A-Rod rules everything else. These are not the only things taken into account, though. Lowell's having a great year, but the competition's hard.

Mike Lowell is having a great year, and for sure deserves some votes for the MVP. Manny is hurt and he is picking it up, and has been solid all year. I don't know if you watched baseball tonight last night but his name did get brought up in the AL MVP talk. I don't think he will win, but he could be top 5. If he was in the NL he'd have a great chance of winning.

Lowell is having a very good year at 333-18-101 but his final numbers will not be good enough for AL MVP. A-Rod is at 308-45-130 right now and will finish with over 50 HR's and 150 RBI.

Mike Lowell is a product of fenway park, if he was still in Florida he'd still be the same mediocre player he was there.

His batting average is nice and RBIs is quite decent but most MVP candidates have a higher amount of home runs and runs.

He's the comeback player of the year for sure. Last year everyone was writing him off as a has-been. Surely he'll get the comeback player dealy, or he's been screwed!

He is not having that great of a year, one stat is not an MVP.
