i have a 1989 Nissan 240sx, i currently am trying to replace the power steering belt and alternator v-belts, but i am having a hard time trying to put them in, i was wondering if there are any techniques used to install belts in a car.

I take it you removed the old belts (i.e. they did not break). Usually, the newer belts are a tight fit over the pulleys. I have had to use a flat screwdriver to carefully pry the belt over the pulley, while rotating the pulley. Kinda like putting a chain on the sprocket and giving it a pedal to get it all the way around. Good luck.
I'm assuming that you loosened the idler pulley all the way etc...

Most cars have an idler pulley that is adjustable for tension, just loosen it until you get the belt over it
