AM AN INDIAN CITIZEN IN UK ON STUDENT VISA AND WANTED TO KNOW IF I CAN TRAVEL TO SWITZERLAND AS MY VISA WILL BE RUNNING OUT ON JANUARY 31ST.

Check if the British document you have complies with one of the document listed here:

If not you need a Visa to travel to Switzerland. In that case you have to contact the Swiss embassy in UK. (Not in India.)

I think you are OK when you have a visa for your next destination, (and your passport is valid for 3 more months.) But there are several conditions, so you might want to check with a Swiss embassy or consulate in India (on-line) or the Swiss embassy in the UK.
