hi
my camry will only start when i jump start it.
i have unplugged the negative of the battery and the car dies. does this mean that my alternator is bad? or is there something else i should look at or check?
any help will be greatly appreciated.

You shouldnt be touching the battery while the car is running, for one. Secondly, we need some more information. All I can say is that, when your car is running,the alternator is providing most of the neccesary electricity. But unplugging the battery will not allow the alternator to recharge/discharge/recharge etc. so of course your car dies, but how quickly it dies is the matter.Give us more information.

Try turning up the idle a bit (to 1500 rpm or so) then disconnect the negative terminal (be careful!). If the car still stalls, then you may have electrical problems.
Based on you info, I'd say you have a bad alternator and/or battery.
