I've gone to the NY + NJ State unemployment web sites and can't find the answer. I also called. I can't get a LIVE person on the phone.

New Jersey. That is where you live. they sort out where they get their money from.

You go to the unemployment office in the state you live in.

It doesn't really matter where you live, if you had moved to florida after losing your job, you would then go to the florida unemployment office.

You are paid unemployment based on the state you earned the wages in, not the state you live in.

But you collect unemployment, though the unemployment office of the state you live in.

In your case, New Jersey

And don't worry, you collect the amount of unemployment, based on where you worked, not where you live.

So moving, does not effect how much unemployment benefits were earned, prior to the move.

New Jersey, and the Supreme Court has already struck down residency requirements as being unconstitutional. So even if you just moved to NJ you are entitled to it.
