he went crazy n said " i'll take all the money in ur hand"
i said: no u won't and if u want them all, nazelny makan mana 3awza

First of all, I really am surprised that all of you are generalizing like this and saying that all taxi drivers are bad. I know lots of them can be, but some are actually very nice and yi3rafo rabina. I sometimes got out of the taxi praying for the driver saying rabina yibarik lo wi yigzeeh kol 7'eir. Not many times true, but still it happened! I actually gave the guy the money once and he returned 2 pounds telling me that I gave him too much. There are good and bad people in every profession.
As for what happened to you Eman I know it's scary, but you really should not have let matters escalate to that extent. You could have gotten out of the other door, not the one he was blocking, and just walked away! I had similar experiences with taxi drivers too. Once I was going home and was carrying tons of papers that had to be corrected. It was hot and I was really tired and dizzy, and could barely see straight! Ma sada2t the taxi ridy yo2af so I agreed to pay the money he asked for even though it was way too much. His driving was horrible. He nearly crashed into several other cars on the way and always called the other drivers very dirty names even though it was his fault not theirs. He also did not let a single matab go by min 3'er ma yihbid feh il3arabiya sending me flying up and hitting the roof! When I was about two streets before home I had had enough. I told him drive slowly please .. wallahi I said it like that very politely. He stopped the taxi and swore that I had to get down right there and then! I got out and gave him the money less than what we had agreed since he did not take me all the way home. As I walked away carrying my piles of papers I could hear the curses and dirty names I was being called. Last I heard was "adam mish ad rokoob taxiat bitrkabooha leh ... sa7ee7 nas *****" ..... I think he spit too, but I'm not sure! hehehehe
I later discovered that the reason I was sooooooo tired and dizzy was not only because I had not had any breakfast and was so hot ... I was actually pregnant at the time. Thank God I didn't have a miscarriage from the way that idiot was driving!

You were very brave no maybe the driver wont try the same troubles with others.
Just think with the amount of taxi drivers there are troubles are going to happen, not all are bad not all are good.
Its best to agree a price before you go, if you didnt get time and you know the price by experience, pay from outside the taxi at all times.
Sometimes i even get the driver to drop me just where the doorman is sitting so that i know if its going to be a fight, the man will fight less when people come to support me.
Also other times, i tried to get dropped close to the police and if trouble happens and the police may help more, even by just looking at the driver. if they think that the driver will drive away and you may give them some money, they will approach the taxi.

It was during Ramadan ....
i was in sanaweya 3amma ...
and i was having a lesson ..
i then had a taxi from the center to home ...
in the way home...
the taxi driver told me
"don't you wanna go al-kornish ... i can take you there "
I was terribley frightened ...
and not brave to say "stop here now " ....
at that time
i thought he might insist more and do sth. unexpected ....
so ....
I pretended talking to my dad on the mobile phone all the way home ...
talking to him and describing where exactly i am ....
and of course the driver .. said nothing at all .....
till i arrive home ......
By the time i arrived home, and get out of the taxi ...
my knees hurt sooooo much...
don't you know the reason ?

You are brave but it was dangerous. Most of them are vulgars and they use to fight for the money. The best as everybody said, you should pay when you get outside. Also you should sit in the rear seat always and never take a taxi with others.
Taxi drivers are really annoying and I think in Cairo they are worse. Any way may God be with us all till we have a solution to these people.

To me i will marry the guy who i like and decide for to proportion something of my existence with and characteristic a kin at the same time nationality won't come into it in any respect it is no longer important to me what's important to me is the thoughts and love we proportion with one yet another. As i'm very lots in love with an Egyptian and that i do no longer decide for to be with all of us else ever i think of i would be marrying an Egyptian and that i will't watch for that day.

I like your situation very much & I think you are brave, I passed by situations like this with taxi drivers, firstly I was cowred but after work I learnt not to leave my right under any Circumstances with polit way & with calmness but as most of people here told you give the money for driver when you get out,I do this now after the trouble I faced.

alhamdulelah taxi in ismailia are the best and zy el roz,they won't ask you where are you going like cairo...or talk with you till you wanna cut off ur ears....
the worst caps are in portsaied,sorry....
i had many fights with them more than i can count...once i had one from the ferry boat in portfo2ad to the college and the fees are known to be 1 pound(believe it or not) and he wanted an extra 50 piasters,i said no and got out of the taxi and heading to the compass...he stepped out from the car and started cussing,alhamdulelah there were some colleagues who told him:"enta nazel tedrabha wla eh??!!!"
so he got back in cussing again.....
and once we waited for a cap for an hour till one finally stopped as i was telling him that we were waiting and even a cap stopped for a guy and not for us he said:"tb3n ana a2af lel ragel we ma2afsh lel bent...."

oh my god, I can't believe what happened to u! I don't know what I would have done with that moron. But considering ur a girl and he is a man AND A TAXI DRIVER who are known to be very vulgar we nas zebala, I wouldn't have stayed in the taxi. I would've gone out of the car, gave him the amount of money I DECIDE ON and leave.
it's not safe for a girl to ride a taxi alone, try other means of transportation if possible please
