I've never run away with any of them, but I have met folks from on line and let me just say it was a great experience in some cases...helped me to explore other worlds and break away from hanging out with the same types of people I was accustomed too. Also, helped me realize that my marriage was a wreck and had hit rock bottom and that not all people are abusive. That I can attract people who aren't completely f'd up in the head.
At the same time you can never be too cautious...there are some very crazy folks out there.

No to all your questions and I would advise against it to anyone out there also - although I do know that a friend has met a chap through the correct procedure on the net and it is working well both parties were free and available and in there 30's

i'm married and never thought about running away with someone other than my husband.
however, i DID have a friend online during my high school and college years and we actually did meet once and it was not fun.....it was ok, but the grass certainly wasn't greener in this case.
he wasn't too cute and was kind of a snob and VERY boring.

anyway.....i wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but i do know that people get bored all the time....

I would not run away with anyone, if i was that unhappy with the person 'i would just leave and not drive the knife in deeper by leaving with someone else. And as for the kids I hope someone would think more of them than to either leave them or bring them with them to live with someone that you really dont know, thats dangerous in a huge number of ways.

You're obviously fantasising about it yourself. Hence the curiosity.

I can book us a room in a travel lodge somewhere if you want. Just drop me an email. I'll bring the champagne.

Don't do it. Especially if there are kids.
