First, she should be mindful that one of the things that keeps the Philippine economy together is the remittances from Overseas Filipino Workers.
Second, it must be remembered the many, if not all, of the OFWs, are themselves educated, even more so thatn their employers. That's why there are college-degree yayas in Hong Kong and engineers in the Middle East, who instead work abroad than here because of the lack of employment here. Hence, her saying that OFWs "wear cheap cologne" are very unfounded.
Third, she, being a columnist on a national broadsheet, is or is presumed to be a member of the Upper or Middle Class, which have a different cultural upbringing from the majority of the Filipinos - who are poor, and are of indigenous origins. As with Philippine Psychologist VIrgilio Enriquez, there is clearly a cultural gap between the rich/middle-classes and the poor - Fernandez should be mindful of this before writing her column, which obviously favors the upper/middle-class side.
However, she has since apologized to those whom she offended, and that she has already resigned as a columnist - I personally think that this actions already suffice for her misdemeanors. Furthermore, she has also clarified that these are merely intended as a joke.

Frankly, I really don't know anything about Malou Fernandez except with what I read about her in one of the open letter or something. Being patronizing is a bit no-no when dealing with the OFW because they are the ones who are bringing big bucks to the country. I think Malou should address this issue herself and be more tactful with what she writes.

A bigot has to be put in their place. Malu Fernandez has shown her readers what kind of a person she truly is-- a snob, inconsiderate and unsympathetic fool who pokes fun on OFWs just so she can present herself as an elitist. She should be stripped of her citizenship if she is ashamed to be with her fellow Filipinos.

She should make a public apology, and retreat to some other occupation.
It would be a mistake for any other paper to take her.
About condemning the action, and not the person, it is rather hard to separate the one from the other. In fact, even the paper where she worked for, should have been put on trial for treason.

She obviously sucks bigtime! She's not worthy to be a Filipino. Does she think before she writes? Obviously not. I'm wondering why she didn't literally slashed her wrist instead of just writing it. Oh that's a bad idea I know but I can't help it! All the same I'm wishing her peace of mind of what she's been writing. Poor her!

anyone can write anything about everyone else. this is a free country nga naman. but we have to be ready to accept the consequences of our actions.
if everybody is angry at her, it was just a natural consequence of her actions. she has nothing to complain about

dapat tirisin (she should be squished) jk ^^
People should let her know that her comments are not funny. However, I don't think people should've commented on her looks, size etc etc.
We should condemn the action not the person.
