I've had three positive home pregnancy tests this weekend. I called my OBGYN to get in for my first appointment and to do the blood test and they said they can't get me in until September 26th. I asked if that was too far out to wait for a blood test and they said as long as I was feeling alright it should be okay. Is this true? Or should I try to find a new doctor? They said it would be good to wait because I'd be close to 8 weeks and they might be able to hear the baby's heart. I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

I'm curious if it's too long to wait because don't they need to see if the hCG levels are where they should be???

Doctors usually wait until you are around 8 weeks for the first appt. I know the waiting is hard, but as long as you are feeling good, and taking care of yourself, then there is not much to worry about.
Congrats and goodluck!

They don't see you until 8 weeks. They will order all your blood work then and do an ultasound to make sure the baby is in the uterus and developing normally. They only see you before that if there is a problem. With my first pregnancy I was excited about seeing the doctor too, and was bummed about waiting, but then after you have the appointements you find they are not exciting. This time around I was fine about the wait.

Why do you need a blood test? I had 2 pregnancies and I only did the urine tests. If you have had 3 positive home tests, they don't even need to give you a test. You are pregnant. They just need to start with your prenatal care. I would just wait for the appointment. I don't see any reason to change doctors over it.

Three + HPT tests means you are pregnant and congrats. It definitely doesn't hurt to wait to see the Dr. unless you are high risk. The baby will be visible on an ultrasound and that is something to look forward to. Otherwise you would be too early to see much. As long as you aren't bleeding and cramping, everything is going as it should and having an appt. before the 26th is probably not going to show you much. Would almost be a pointless visit. Don't stress it, you'll get there, and you'll be glad you waited.

I was 8 weeks when I went to the OB for the first time and I just answered a ton of questions and gave them blood. then I actually met my OB at 13 weeks. I don't think this is unreasonable. From what I have been told the OBs don't' see people until between 8 and 13 weeks usually anyways. I saw my GP before this, just to do confirmation.
good luck and don't freak out. The Dr. knows best.

My doctors got me in within a week of finding out I was pregnant. But my dates where screwy and I had missed a period for 2 months without getting a BFP. But on another message board I post at alot of doctors won't even see the patients till they are around 12 weeks, most won't see you till around 8 weeks. Unless there is a problem or something.

maximum OB/GYNs won't see you till 12 weeks as there is no longer lots to verify/do approximately 10-12weeks is while the pulse registers on the Ultrasound. and you are able to tell if there is any overt abnormality in boost. a brilliant form of workplaces won't do blood artwork in the previous 12 weeks except there is evidence of past issues. yet no longer all places. you're a client of the medical occupation, and you have the suitable to request better exams besides as hearth your Dr. and locate one which will pay attention to the problems you have.

Most doctors don't want to see you until you are 8-10 weeks along. If you have any questions or concerns before then, call your doctor and ask away. Usually there is a nurse or someone who can address your concerns, and if it is something urgent that needs to be seen by the doctor, they will get you in sooner.

If this is a planned pregnancy and you like this doctor, then wait. If you have no relationship with the doctor or might not want the baby then seek out a clinic or another doctor, ASAP.

why do you need a blood test?? It's not crucial to the baby...it's not crucial either to see a doctor so early...at 2 months the baby is literally a bean.
