10 long years of birth control and I am just now ready to be a mom. Any advice on how long before my body adjusts and any other good mom advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am going to my Dr. next month to get everything in order.

i was on for 10 years and my doctor advised me to go off and wait 3 months before trying. this gives your body a time to regulate and gives you the chance to chart your cycle so you will be able to predict your most fertile times and see when to expect your period (or know when you're hopefully late!!!) also, when i went for that pre-conception appt. with the doctor, she tested me to see if my immunities were all in order...i needed to have another mmr booster before i conceived, and i needed to wait 3 months after having that done before we started trying as well. that's another think to consider, that way you can combine to 2 waiting periods of need be and not waste any time getting to baby making. best of luck for you!!

I think that this is different from person to person...I was off for a week and got pregnant...I have friends that were off for years before getting pregnant...so I think it just really depends on when your body is ready! I have heard that 6 months is a good estimate (average) for your body to adjust to no BC.

I was on them for 7 years, then stopped taking them 3 months before trying, then got pregnant the first month I tried. My doctor told me to stop for the 3 months so that I would get a normal period back and the pregnancy could be accurately dated.

I've been off BC for 9 months now and still have not concieved. I was on it for 6 years. But I was happy this month cuz I got my first painful period since I stopped. Cuz that was always normal for me. So I'm hoping I'm really ovulating now. Good luck and baby dust 2u...hope this helps!!!
