To all atheists and agnostics: Don't you just HATE the atheists and agnostics that go around on Yahoo Answers attacking the beliefs of religious people? It makes all the other atheists and agnostics look bad! It's like, don't you people have anything better to do with your time than tell other people what they're doing with their time is a waste of time? Just makes all the rest look bad is all I'm saying. It's like me telling a head chef of a restaurant that he's wasting his life doing what he loves OR just plain making dishes for patrons of his restaurant. I have a suggestion: spend your time on here answering and asking questions without having to attack other people. Otherwise, it makes all the civilized atheists and agnostics look like they have nothing else better to do than slander other people. Where is the love, man? Hehe. And look at me, I've resorted to attacking the atheists and agnostics that attack non-atheists and non-agnostics. What a pity.

By the way, I'm a traditional Roman Cathholic. I don't hate atheists nor agnostics. But, as you can see in my book of a message, that it really does bug me when they attack people of belief. I knew atheism is a lack of belief and I knew that agnosticism usually means that they say there is no proof. I have absolutely nothing against any religion or non-religion. And yeah, it even bugs me when Christians and such attack atheists and other religions. You notice that I never used the words "us atheists" or "us agnostics." I wanted to pose this question to see if there were any tolerable ones on this website, because I have never run into an answer to a religious question that is nothing but slander. So, I was just curious. Now, I know. And I think people should really keep their beliefs and non-beliefs to themselves on this "board." I didn't in this note because I just wanted to point out my real reason for throwing my question out there.

There is actually a term for that sort of atheist. The "angry atheist" is a person who goes around basically being mean and berating religious people. Why they do that I am unsure, but I know that the majority of us are getting the flack for the few. It is a pity.

No, not at all. What I hate is when atheists and agnostics go around attacking the religious people themselves. Religious people are people like the rest of us, it's just that they happen to hold false beliefs. They are to be educated, just as we educate a child so that it no longer believes that 2*5=12 or that 'a elephant' is grammatical. Do we tell children who say 'a elephant' that they are bad? No, we tell them that their BELIEF (that what they are saying is grammatical) is what's bad. The same goes for religious people.

There are 2 questions. one million. do you be attentive to no count if or no longer there's a god/do you think of it is wide-unfold no count if or no longer there's a god? in case you answer no, you're an agnostic. in case you answer definite, you at the instant are not an agnostic. 2. Do you think in a god? in case you answer no, you're an atheist. in case you answer definite, you're a theist. those 2 questions provides you with 4 outcomes - agnostic atheist, agnostic theist, "gnostic" atheist and "gnostic" theist. considering agnosticism is a philosophy of information, it does not decide for the question of perception. All agnostics are, as a result, the two atheists or theists.

It bothers me a bit when they attack the belivers, rather than trying to debunk the beliefs. Ad hominem is REALLY not a valid debate tactic. But I understand the temptation, considering the hatemail I get from Christians.

But I do agree with them that we have to stand up for ourselves. We can't let theists just say what they want about us, or try to force religion onto us or into our laws. (Look at all the questions asking how atheists can have morals...)

Other than that, though, I don't see why they care what people believe.

No. Atheism isn't a religion, it's just a lack of belief. Though all Atheists, by definition, don't believe in God (and Agnostics are by definition, unsure), there is no implied commonality in what they /do/ believe.

There are atheists who respect religious people and there are atheists who make fun of them and what not. There are also religious people who respect atheists and there are religious people who fight them. And there are all kinds of types in between.
Do you seriously believe that you are going to change anything about this by posting this message / question? You have talked about "waste of time" in your message ...
I have (and still am) tried to convince the other side by talking to them directly, listening to what each one says and respond to that certain thing. This is how you should try it.
