started stretching 2 weeks ago to try and do the splits... almost did the front splits after a week, but after a few days i stopped stretching because i had to cram from a test. i didnt stretch for 3 days straight! stretched the next day (yesterday), but didnt today. im dreading stretching tomorrow. its painful and when i get more flexible.. the next day i go back to normal and have to stretch again to reach the same level of flexibility as the day before.
how do i stay motivated? i dont need to be flexible for anything... dont take ballet or any other dance classes that requires me to be flexible. i just think it would be fun to, and ive always wanted to do the splits.. and back bends etc

Watch a very good movie with ballet in it, where they do all sorts of stuff which makes you say:'Ow, that must hurt!' or 'that's not what a leg is supposed to do, right?'
and you'll have a good vision of your goal!!!

Hey, you did better than most people I know - you got your front splits after only 2 weeks of stretching. You did it once, you can do it again.
You just need to do it.... It will be always like this - sometimes you get sick, sometimes you're on the road. You miss a day or two here and there. At the beginning, you'll feel the effects of a couple of missed days "as if you never done stretching before". But it gets better with time and practice. As you get more flexible, you won't be losing all your stretch in one day of not-strethcing. You'll be losing only a little bit. Take it as a normal part of the process. Three steps forward and one step back still takes you 2 steps forward.

It's just how life is for everyone - sometimes you don't get to stretch.

You need to stretch Every day (unless you're ill) to maintain limberness and flexability. That's just how your muscles work. Good and proper stretching can keep you from being injured too - go slow, don't try to do things you've never done too fast either. Take it one day at a time and you'll get there! Best Wishes!
