Reptiles usually carry salmonella in their scales, so be careful if you have any for pets or visit a petting zoo. Not sure if you need to stay away from them, but since salmonella can cause vomiting...who really needs more of that when they are pregnant!

Yeah,
Stay away from cat poop. If you have a cat and it uses a litter box, have someone else change it.
I don't know how much truth there is to this, but when I had my daughter 15 years ago I developed toxemia. Back then they were in the middle of scientific studies relating to cats an toxemia. I had 2 cats while pregnant. They were finding that a good portion of women developing it were cat owners! I don't know what they're saying now.....but I thought I'd pass it on.

You shouldn't clean cat litter or handle reptiles, like iguanas. It is ok to be around the cat, just have someone else change the litter box. There is a bacteria that can be present in the feces called toxoplasmosis and it can cause birth defects. You do not have to get rid of the cat though, just have your hubby change the litter and if you have an iguana same thing.

I would be careful around large breed dogs that are prone to jumping up on people. When you're pregnant, your balance is off and these dogs can knock you down.
