im currently 35 weeks and 6 days and im having a hard time deciding on whether or not i should leave my doctor's practice. well lemme give u some background. i go to magee and they have a clinic where u dont just see one doctor, u see whoever happens to be there that day (i hate that). ive been having issues this pregnancy but i had an appt last week to follow up on the baby's growth because they said that he was in the 10th percentile and has a small belly. so i didnt see the doctor i usually see, i seen someone else. she measured my belly and told me i was measuring 30 weeks when im actually 35 and im 100% about my dates. so im wondering if the other doctor was measuring me wrong the entire time. so then this doctor said that i will start getting ultrasounds every week and then i get another growth ultrasound in 3 weeks to see if he has gained weight. ive had one of this already and he was 4lbs. when i had the follow up last week he was 4lbs 14ozs. (to be continued)...

so the other doctor told me that if there was signs that he wasn't growing then they would opt to take him out because he would be better out than in. (by the way it took 3 weeks to gain 14 ozs. is that normal?) the other doctors said something about waiting 3 more weeks and by the time ill be 38-9 weeks. i haven't been able to eat properly because of severe hyperemesis and i have low iron. im concerned that one of reasons why he isn't gaining that much weight is because of me. so i rather have him out than in to so he can start getting proper nutrition. i kno it's kinda late to switch doctors but i've been thinking about it. a 5 week difference is significant and i dont want to risk the life of my child over these doctors. if anyone has any advice for me it will be greatly appreciated. thank u in advance. and if u have had a similiar experience, please share. thanks!

Sounds like a crappy office. Even if you see different doctors, the one you see should be checking your CHART! Your estimated conception date should be in it, along with what ultrasounds you've had & the results of everything.

God... and it's not like women aren't different enough to be different sizes at the same point of pregnancy.

If you don't leave, then at least tell them that you refuse to see different doctors anymore b/c they can't get their $h!t straight even when it's written down. And let them know which doctor you want. It would not be an unreasonable expectation after all of that.

It's very very late to be looking for another Dr. If you aren't gaining weight and the baby is small, you wouldn't be measuring up to par. Do the ultrasounds, and wait it out. A lot of practices are like that nowadays, I know my Dr's was. It doesn't really matter who delivers the baby anyway, and being so close to the finish, you are better off with people who have your whole pregnancy history.

Talk to some of your friends who have had babies and get some recommendations on better doctors. There is no harm in at least seeing someone else to get another opinion, and if you end up really liking that doctor, stick with him or her until delivery. Good luck!

Stick to the practice you are in. The reason you see the different doctors in a multi doctor practice is that you are at least familiar with the all because when you do deliver you might not get the doctor you started with, as they all take different "on call" periods... No biggee....

To my understanding if you are past as certain amount of weeks you are not able to start w/ a new physician. I was told this when I switched physicians. I was able to switch being that I wasnt that far along at the time.

If you're uncomfortable, switch. Or just get a second opinion, then decide. Or just tell them you are only comfortable with a certain doc and only schedule appointments with that doctor.

Getting another opinion is really important right now. You can go back to magee and demand a second opinion, i.e. an exam by another dr. or you can get an opinion from another OB.

I think you should see another doctor outside of that practice since you aren't used to seeing one doctor anyways.
