I am really starting to understand this aspect of why people willingly allow the government to infringe on civil liberties.

However, I still don't think allowing this even at a time of war is necessary or a good thing.

Where does it stop?

How many innocent U.S. citizens have to be held under these conditions before it's too many?
Or doesn't it matter to you as long as it isn't one of your family members?

Akbar: Of course I don't want war on U.S. soil. The right is the ones who keep saying we fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here.
You accusing me of something so ridiculous only makes you look foolish and incapable of rational discussion on important issues!

Why do you hate freedom?

Don't you understand that liberty and privacy are the only things standing in the way of our freedom?

If it wasn't for all of these liberties, we could remain a free nation.

Apparently there are. Once exceptions are made to basic constitutional rights, those rights are essentially lost because exceptions can be expanded, due to circumstances, at will.

Most people aren’t concerned because they think that they aren’t directly affected but that is exactly how totalitarian regimes start taking away rights.

In Germany, which had been a democracy, the Nazis first started arresting Communist Party leaders and the categories just expanded from there.

Though out history we have had to make sacrifices during war time, rationing, fighting, labor etc etc etc. But this is the first time our constitution has been fouled.
I believe the government preys on the public's apathy.

What rights and civil liberties have you lost? You say innocent U.S. citizens are being held? Could you show me some credible news sources showing this.

I guess I would need to see some actual infringements of the Constitution to adequately answer this. Baseless accusations give me no point of reference in considering an answer..........

You need to tell me what specific instances you are talking about. You may have a point, but then you may be a Bush-hating, Patriot-Act-misconstruing, tin-foil-hat-wearing, Amnesty-International-loving whackjob.

Be more specific.

So you want war here on American soil then? Shame.

Do you understand the concept of short-term pain for long-term pain? Do you understand what will happen if a massive attack occurs? ....assuming you believe that anyone would ever want to do such a thing to the U.S..... if it happened, there's this thing called "Marshall Law". If we lose a few cities, "Marshall Law" WILL be necessary, and it WILL happen.
