I'm always being asked aren't I 'burning up' because I'm wearing jeans and/or long sleeves. I wonder, at what temperature do people literally 'burn up'? (So I can say, 'Nope, it isn't QUITE xx degrees out.....')

As in, catch fire. Like, maybe what temperature is used in a crematorium...although that has to be higher to eradicate bone as well. But that's still the general idea.

Makes me hungry just thinking about this stuff. But:

Human flesh requires extended exposure to 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit in order to ignite. The human body, which is 85 percent water, burns outside to inside in a rapid cycle of layer-by-layer dehydration and ignition. The heat dries out the skin; the dry skin ignites. That fire dries out the next layer of muscle and fat, which then ignites. And so on, until the internal organs are consumed. The average body gives off a modest 1,000 Btu per pound of meat (burning wood, by comparison, gives off 6,000 Btu). But an extremely obese person can run up to 17,000 Btu.

Why you got some burns or something? Or are you a serial killer? Flesh will cook in a fire at about 280 degrees so it also means it will boil at 280 degrees in a bath. Dont try it, if your trying to commit suicide then do it interestingly not by cooking your flesh, how boring. Go flying in a thunderstorm and try to get hit by lightning or something while covered in gasoling. Throw a torch in a gasline that your laying in. (Not an American gasline, go to Iraq or something as that causes problams for people who still want to live.) But if you are trying to commit suicide dont do it because if you die, its not the end, you'll go to the afterlife and be miserable there, except you wont be able to die there. You only have one death don't waste it.

I believe the temperature in a crematorium has to be 1800 degrees. Not just to burn flesh and bone but to incinerate any bacteria. So maybe you can use that as a guide line.

what's your definition of Burn. the sun can bake you at pretty low temperatures notice you can still get sunburned in the winter.

As for your flesh actually cooking I'd imagine it's the same as any other animal. go out and cook a porkchop on the grill and you'll have your answer.

I'm not sure about flesh, but the point that my skin tightens up over a grill is approximately 140-160 Fahrenheit. I reckon if you kept it over that for about an hour, it would begin to burn. Tasty.

I don't know. I think you have a good idea though.
