What is the best (and inexpensive) way to get from Landshut to Munich as a tourist during Oktroberfest?

Landshut is the only city that I found that has available youth hostels during the times I need during Oktoberfest.

There are several trains per hour that take on average 50 minutes and it costs 12,40 euros each way, not too cheap.
If you have a train pass, it would be included, so consider that, even if it's just a Germanrail pass.

The last train from Munich to Landshut is 11:44 p.m. Or you could stay out all night an return at 5.44 a.m.
