Great question!!
I LOVED the 90s team! BUT... it was lop-sided. Even with all that run support, pitching wins games. I think we've seen some great pitching with the 2007 Tribe - especially lately with all these shut-outs!
Mesa was great - but give Borowski some credit for the year he's having. And Betencourt(sp?) as set-up man... it's beautiful.
It's hard to pick what team is better right now... I don't want to jinx anything. BUT - I will say the Tribe we see today is at the beginning. We'll see plenty more to come - and they're only going to get better.
Eric Wedge is doing a way better job than Hargrove. The players like Wedge.
Go Tribe!

Sorry, 2007. 1-9, the 90's kick the current Tribe's ****. In the 90's, there was NO weakness in the order. Vizquel was the "weakness", and he still hit around .300, was a helluva baserunner and THE BEST DEFENSIVE SHORTSTOP EVER (sorry Ozzie). Today, there are several weaknesses in the order. And the bench in the 90's was way better. Eddie Murray vs. Mike Rouse or Shin Soo Choo? Yeah. Mesa of 1995 was better than Borowski at any point of his career. Mesa never let anybody on base. I do think the 2007 top 3 starters may be more dominating than any other front 3. And Hafner and Sizemore would fit in pretty well in the 90's lineup. Hopefully 2007 will be the new 1995! Go Tribe!
(ps- Don't forget Jaret Wright on the 90's squad)

Without a question this year the pitching is superior. Sabathia 16 wins Byrd 14 wins Carmona has 15 wins I believe and Westbrook is just getting comfortable. But that lineup from the 90's is just too much for any staff besides the Braves of the 90's. Final Outcome 90's indians win it in 5 games.

see hers the problem with cleveland. now i love it here but they always are comparing the old indian to the new and the old brownies to the new. what they need to do is get people like c.c , hafner grady (my fav.) got lofton back and borowski to sign these big decade deals and the browns just need sum lady luck on the injury part but they still need to and this is my best defense keep the same people on the team for more than a month. yeah we may have the best defense since '99 but keep the playrs around and on the same play book and well have champs in cleveland in no time.

Both are great teams with great players. Personally I would like to have the '90's only becuase I like the pitching a little more. But 2007 is a great year for them and is also a very good team.

I agree hitting maybe have been better in the 90's and they didn't leave as many runners on base, and won alot of late inning game, pitching is better though now.
I also agree 90's would beat today's Indians in 5 or 6
which team would we put Kenny on? 90's since he just got here in the middle of this season?

I say that the 90's team was too impressive compared to this years team, if this years team stays together a few more years and add a few pieces they definitely going to be better. I loved watching that 90's team!

1990's Indians are much better than 2007 Indians because they made to World Series two times in three years with former Indians manger Mike Hargrove who justly resigned as manager of Seattle Mariners earlier this season.
