Raise car, remove the complete fuel tank assembly, and then remove the complete fuel sender/pump assembly. Some of these units could be disassembled to replace only the pump and the in tank strainer. If there is a lot of gas in the tank, you should try to siphon as much out as possible as it is a lot of weight to deal with and dangerous to let spill all over the place. Good luck.
