(4x + 1) = ± 5
4x = - 1 ± 5
4x = 4 , 4x = - 6
x = 1 , x = - 3 / 2

(4x + 1)^2 = 5^2 or 4x+1 = plus or minus 5. x = 1 or 1.5 .

as they said (4x + 1) = +5 or -5
4x = 4 or -6
x = 1 or -1.5

(4x + 1)^2 = 5^2
(4x + 1) = 5

OR

(4x + 1) = -5

Therefore, x = 1 or -6
