The Yankees lead MLB in Team Batting Avg (.289), Runs Scored (802), Hits (1,397), RBI (769), OBP (.363), SLG (.461), and are second in Homeruns (170). Is this good enough to be considered the best offensive team in MLB or do the numbers not tell the whole truth?

Borat: What people think and reality are sometimes two different things. The Yankees team pitching stats are about the middle of the pack and they actually have a better team ERA than the Tigers. The Yankees are at 4.57 and the Tigers are at 4.69.

I would have to say that the stats back it up, offensively they are a great team, you only asked if they were the best offensive team so I will not bore anyone with critique of their defense or pitching staff. They have a great offensive team, they score runs in bunches, they have enough good hitters that if onee is slumping the others around him picks up his slack. They are deep on the bench with hitting talent, they can go into the minnors and bring up hitters that will get it done. Right now they have the best offense statistically speaking. The problem with stats is that sometimes it does not account for the fact that there are days that the whole team seems to take off. They are still a great offensive team and their offense is the only reason they are still playoff contention 9maybe not their division but Boston has blown bigger leads in the past in less time than what is left). I would hate to have to face that lineup in a seven game series!

All their big heads and fat wallets aren't enough to win them a championship AGAIN. They may have the most feared lineup, but for the amount theyr'e paid they should win every game. The pitching is less than stellar, hitting should be a team effort not one player. GS will again be blowing his top when them Yanks don't even make the playoffs. Players are old and too many better balanced teams.

the have the most expensive offense in the league the best, I'm not so sure but they are up in the top, and since they pay alot to buy their way in the playoffs they should be the best or near it.

Yeah they have the best offense in baseball. Unfortunately their bullpen and SP is a little iffy. But their offense is tremendous and their bench is awesome too. Those stats support what I already know, that they have the best offense.

From a pure statistics perspective, they do have the best offense in MLB. But, it won't matter much if their sitting at home during the playoffs.
