The Democrats, as is well-known, have proposed to have the government nationalize health care, which is the biggest threat at this moment to everybody's health. If they succeed, would you be willing to purchase your health care from those heroic businessmen who will offer it on the "Black" Market?

If you want to cut costs, get rid of government intervention. Back in the 60s before Medicare, a week-long hospital visit cost $1000, adjusted for inflation. Medicare, Medicaid, the FDA, and other previous government interventions were solutions looking for a problem. Socialist/Communist (they're really the same because The Communist Manifesto laid out the agenda called "socialism" or "social democracy" or "liberalism" here in America, but the Communist Soviet Union was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) Medicine has been a disaster everywhere it has been tried (unlike laissez-faire, but exactly like all forms of unfree economies).

By the way I don't watch Fox News and I am equally critical of the Republican position on many issues (for example war, anti-terrorism, and civil liberties).

The existence of medication is of no import if you can not take it and take it on time. If you can't, it's a death sentence.
I know if one of my kids was dying and there was a medication on any market that would reverse the process, I would probably kill to get it.

The black market will be a tricky place though because you can count on the unscrupulous to take advantage of the misery.

Soon there will be an underground economy associated with the practice and so will there be an underground education as exists in the sub terrainean world of illegal drugs today.

One only needs to look at the practice in China and Russia now. The medication and gasoline black market is big business and the government has grown to rely on it rather than improve the infrastructure to make it irrelevant.

Every time I look at what the Democratic Party is proposing in existing practice, what I see is crummy, marginal and dangerous.

I still have faith that the majority of Americans know deep down that Michael Moore has no expertise in the matter and no idea what he's talking about and will reject the proposal in favor of something more reasonable.

You are so misinformed that one must conclude you are an avid FOX News viewer. No one is proposing a 'mandatory' national health care system. The few proposals I've read are calling for an option of signing onto a national health care plan. If you can afford a private plan of your own then you would be free to do so. As far as it being a threat to our health I would have to say look around the world, we are the only industrialized nation without a national health care plan. Now if you could show that we as a nation are so much healthier than the rest of the world then you might have a case but the stats show a different story. Americans have a higher rate of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.

Depending on which way the government goes, it could be a move towards Fascism (government sponsored monopoly by select few corporations), or Communism (government controlled services and production with no private corporations).

But most likely, it will be a move towards Fascism, where the government will allow certain privileged corporations to get a virtual monopoly of the health-care sector.

Either way, the little guy is screwed. It may become a crime to look for competent and reasonably priced health-care. And many people will be forced to commit a 'crime' by looking for alternative medicine or health-care that is not part of the 'Universal' health-care.

Since the Democrats are not advocating mandatory Communist Medicine your question is moot. You need to become more informed instead of flaming with your absolutely ridiculous posts.

By the way health care professionals will tell you that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In other words catch the problem early and the cost of treating or preventing it from getting worse is far less costly than waiting until one has to go to the emergency room for treatment because they can't afford a visit to the primary care physician.

It is becoming more apparent that 17th century philosopher Voltaire was correct when he said "Common sense is uncommon". It was true then and seems, perhaps, truer today.

Americans should know that the daily mail is not a serious newspaper, it is almost a cartoon. Not really a reliable source, and politically biased to the right wing in an embarrassingly ranting sort of a way. It mostly treated like the joke that it is, people read it for a laugh. Also currently we have a right wing government who are ideologically opposed to universal benefits and care, and most current problems within the NHS are attributed to its gradual merging with private contractors that has been happening since thatcher opened it up to her deregulated market place.

Black Market? Yeah, why don't we just send the uninsured or underinsured there now? Boy, I didn't even know there was such a thing. And to think, they have been wasting their money in Emergency Rooms.

Would that heroic businessmen be from BC/BS, United Healthcare or one of the other big boys? Would it allow only Republicans who are against Universal Healthcare? Keep you away from all those poor people?

Instead of crying and calling it Socialized or Communist get a spine and look up the cost of salaries, equipment and overhead.
Its the one thing no one discusses, the cost.
Its all boo~frickty~hoo the other side is changing something.
You want to scare people do it right, the demand for healthcare workers is at a high and will be a disaster if this happens. Quit using politics and use something that is truly a threat. A shortage of qualified healthcare workers that the USA has never seen.

It is a distinct possibility. Socialized healthcare will inevitably lead to a decline in quality. Doctors will be forced to work for government dictated fees. Free enterprise in the health profession will die. And the result will be that the truly qualified will not go into medicine.

There will be services along with free just like schools. If you don't like the government model, seek out and hire your own doctor. Why is this so difficult to grasp?

Well, hey, their intentions are good.

BTW, you need to make sure to not use the terms communism and socialism interchangably. They're very different. The democrats are socialist, not communist.
