How can I pull this off? Is there a way to sweeten the deal?

You need to find a backer with a lot of pull. Take samples to the candy shows and offer to sweeten the pot. Let them chew on the idea for a while then stick to them like..well, glue I suppose. They'll either fork over some financing or melt into the shadows, but at least you'll have your name being strung up around the business. It doesn't have to suck, just a few licks will get you in the door.
