Very interesting question. the main complaint, seems to come from the conservative right wing, when ever you complain about George Bush, his cronies, and his policies. Or, THEY are complaining about Bill Clinton. You know according to them, everything that has ever gone wrong in this country is because Clinton gave a BJ to one of his Aides. OH NO!, Even though, Bush would have lied in the same situation, any MAN would have. Duh. It's all a propaganda machine to try to brainwash the American public into thinking the way they do because that is the moral and right way to think. It's a bunch of crap. People are entitled to their opinions, so others complaining about that, must feel threatened in some way. Personaly, I'm tired of all the whining about the Liberals all the time from the consevatives. It's so childish. But they are running scared, because they know deep down, that Bush F***ed this country up royaly, and he's been lying his butt off since he's been in office. He started an unneccessary war with lies, he now has half of the world hating us.

Sorry about going on a rant. But when you brought up the Dixie Chicks, it just got me kind of fired up, because what was done to them was totaly unfair.

It's simply not true that all Americans ALWAYS do this.

I don't know what the "voteforthe worst" thing is.

Yes, people who wanted to hang the Dixie Chicks for expressing their views missed the point of freedom of speech; but then, merely complaining about other people's opinions is itself protected speech.

So when people said the Dixie Chicks were wrong, I have the right to say that the Dixie Chicks were right.

That's kinda the whole idea.

that is a very broad and misguided statement. Americans as a rule are not whiners. The problem with the Dixie Chicks is not necessarily what they said but where they said it. Terrible judgement and no class. end of story.

Isn't the act of complaining the same thing as expressing an opinion?

2007-09-04 06:29:38 · answer #4 · answered by You mean that? 2 · 3 0

They complain because they know that opinions opposite of theirs are being expressed. They also may not recognize the importance of free speech because they have had it all their lives and do not know what it would be like if it were taken from them.

Everybody does it no matter where they are from. By the way, I sometimes switch to UK only when it gets to that time of day when the young ones are signing in in US and I find UK positively obsessed about American members. Whats the deal, I thought we were all on the same side!!!!

I think we've gone from a nation where expressing ones opinion is a valued right to a nation where the average American is in bondage to "political correctness."

It also happens in many other countries. They just don't get the publicity.
Sort of like your neighbor arrested for drunk driving versus the publicity Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan get for the same thing.
