The Saints offense can compete with just about anyone.
They aren't a favorite to WIN the superbowl, just get there from the cesspool that is the NFC.
We'll see if the hype is for real on Thursday when they face the Colts.

The reason is like "tiger" said, there are no strong teams in the NFC, practically 6 teams are possibles for the big game ( I know everyone has a chance), where as in the AFC the teams are much stronger, and the favorites aren't just lucky, they are good. They received alot of attention (hurricane) and rode that momentum backed with acquiring "college" phenom Reggie Bush, who has yet to break out in the NFL (but should this year, he will be great). Drew is a good to good+ QB that can get the job done, and their overall offense is not that bad (2 great RB's, strong WR and line). I dont think it is too far off that they could make it to the Super Bowl. As far as winning the big game no NFC team has a good chance, especially since they will be facing the Steelers.

They are a popular choice to go to the Superbowl, not win it. Right now in the NFC the top two teams are the Bears and the Saints.
The Saints were very good last year and Drew Brees has now proven himself with two different teams. It is true that if they went to the Superbowl this year, they would be the underdog to any of the top AFC teams.

I agree with you.
I think the Saints are very overrated. I believe they had a somewhat magical season last yearcdue to certain factors, but I dont seem them being as good as they were last year. Now that doesnt mean they couldlt reach the superbowl, but I would give 2 or 3 teams from NFC a better chance.

If you dont remember any offseason moves, you werent paying attention. They picked up several defensive players to address some needs like a LB, DB, CB. They added David Patten, and several others in the offense. Then there was the draft in which they patched up any other needs. They already had one of the top offenses, now they got some D also. They will go to the bowl this year, should have last year.

Saints became a favorite team in the orgy of "let's love New Orleans" after hurricane katrina. They did very well, and everybody is still gaga over them as a hot team. As far as I'm concerned, the super saints is just a bunch of hot air.

Bush, Colston, Brees, McAlister, Henderson, and the meanest O-line in the league. Not to mention, they all are on the juice and can whip any one of the pats colts and chargers in a street fight. except for maybe kaeding.

Because they went from being a laughingstock francise to a contender in one season. They overcame the odds not just as a team but where they were located (New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina).

I personally don't think they'll make it there...
but did you miss last season when they fell 2 games short?
A- that means they're good
B- that means there are going to be a ton of bandwagon fans who will make it known that in their biased opinions, think the Saints are the greatest team ever
