OK here's my story. I just started school at a community college, and I have no friends. That's not just in school, but outside of school as well. There's another layer to my delima, and that is I'm gay. So how do I make friends without scaring them off, because I just happen to be gay?

Do you have a facebook account? Set one up in your school's network and search for someone who has something in common with you. Say you are interested in theatre or a political cause. Search "Drama Club" in activities, or people who belong to facebook groups that you are interested in. Send them a message saying "I just started at the school, and I'm interested in joining the drama club/::insert political cause here:: and I was wondering how I would get involved at the school." That way, you find a group of people that you have something in common with, and you've made a specific connection with an individual person. Also, since you're gay, choose a political cause like same-sex marriage or something else you're very passionate about.
If you're not into any extracurriculars, before the next exam, ask someone in one of your classes to start up a study group. Invite everyone to the library, or your house, or the lawn outside the school. Get pizza, study the material, and have a good time. It'll be much more casual than a classroom setting, plus it'll probably even help you get a better grade on your exam!
Just a tip... people love, love, LOVE to talk about themselves, so ask people about their high school, their friends, their relationships, their family, etc. Of course, don't pry too much! And always, always, ALWAYS...smile, be confident, and most of all BE YOURSELF!!!

gosh you being gay should not scare people off. if you are comfortable of whom you are there should not be a problem but i know girls are more prone to being friends then guys. you can just walk up intrduced yourself and start talking and they will be fine most peole like that inpeopel.
