LOL, I havent listened in years and personally I dont see how anyone can listen to him now that he's proven himself to be a complete hypocrite with his hillbilly-heroin addiction.
That being said, I did listen to him for awhile during the Bush-Clinton years. I dont agree with a lot of what he says but sometimes Im intrigued by his interpretations. I found myself agreeing with many of his assessments on the Clintons. However, I found his mocking of Chelsea's looks on his short-run TV show to be beneath contempt.
I also lost any bit of respect for him when he began using the Bible to defend some of his more outrageous claims. If you want to be a talking-head politico, you need to engage in debate and logic, not just state "because the Bible says so." That combined with the Chelsea incident above led me to dissociate myself with him and his "ditto-head" world.
I love how the guy on the other page posted the Wikipedia article in defense of Rush. Did you not see how he flunked out of college? LOL. How do you get an "F" in speech class????
Nowadays I dont have time to listen to him. I have a full-time job.

First and foremost, Rush is an entertainer, not a journalist. If you didn't know or understand this, you haven't been paying attention.
As a political entertainer, he does have to go over the top on occasion, because he needs controversy to thrive. So, some ranting, some hyperbole, etc.
But he does bring many issues up, and he does provide a lot of facts, even though they may be interspersed with invective and hot air.
And a Pew poll that correlated political awareness to which was a primary source for news and opinion found that it is political shows like Rush, O'Reilly and the Daily News that have the most informed audiences.

Because a sane person listens to other views besides his own in seeking the truth.
Limbaugh is fun to listen to vs Air America.
Rush crack jokes and liberals take him seriously.
On Air America they just on going hate rant against anything conservative.
If you don't like it turn the dial or off.
I know the typical rants by now with out reading any of them.
You will have they are sheep, dumb, rednecks, homophobes.
There will be mention of drugs.
Let me see how close I am.

I was originally intrigued by him in his earlier days. But then, I was a brainwashed cult member back then, and was listening to him to get a perspective on how the "worldly" people thought. I'll never forget the day I heard him say that the hole in the ozone layer was a liberal lie. Even I could recognize that as utter nonsense.
Could it have been Rush who forced me to think more objectively with his blatant contrivances? Dang! Well, he doesn't get credit for my escape from the cult. I would certainly never join his!
I'll turn him on occasionally now just to see what kind of comment he has about some notable current event. He got much, much worse when he got directly involved in the Bush campaign.
I usually can stomach him for about 3.5 minutes, max. If I'm stuck in someone else's car who feels the need to listen to him, I'll try to encourage changing the station or turning it off. Otherwise, I'll tune him out as well as I can.

Rush fills the need to blame someone, anyone, other than the listener for the sorry state in which we all find our country in.
Just like a child running to Mom or Dad with a skinned knee or a black eye from a bully, Rush is there on the radio to say "There, there, honey, it's not your fault. I'll make it all better."

I've listened to Rush. Just like I've listened to Mike Malloy, Randy Rhodes, Stephanie Miller or Sean Hannity. You have to remember to remember that this is news commentary. Collect your own news. Don't be lazy and let them tell you what's going on during the day. If you're getting your news solely from any of these guys your pretty much screwed because your only getting tidbits of info and a bunch of conjecture to base your opinions on.
When you listen to any news commentary show, you have to keep your grains of salt handy because while all of these people will give you some truth from all of these people, they will filter it through their own experiences and perception which may not be yours.

Rush Killing AirHead America

12 X the audiance of the CONSPIRATORIAL Randi Rhodes show!
He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1993. In 2002, industry publication Talkers magazine ranked him as the greatest radio talk show host of all time.[4] Although Limbaugh's audience is not monolithic, he does attract the highest percentage (56%) of hard news consumers relative to all other television and radio programs in the United States. Maybe the Liberals will be able to force medication on the rest of us.
I am not a Limbaugh fan, but he has free speech rights, same as all other Americans.
