I put (-2,-4/3)

Is it correct? If so, how can I show work for it?

3x + 5 < 1
3x < - 4
x < - 4 / 3

3x + 5 > - 1
3x > - 6
x > - 2

- 2 < x < - 4 / 3
Interval is ( - 2 , - 4 / 3 )

|3x+5| < 1 means
-(3x+5) < 1 < 3x+5
Take -3x-5 < 1 first, then
-3x < 6
x > -2

Now consider 1 < 3x+5, so
3x > -4
x> -4/3

But -2 < -4/3, so that x > -2 will get both of these. x > -2 is the answer

3x < -4
x < -4/3

3x + 5 > -1
3x > -6
x > -2

Looks right to me.
