I have a 15 month old baby and I work around the clock...sometimes Ill work daytime so a normal day care would be fine..but sometimes (more often than not) my shift is at night...example tonight I go in at 4 and dont get out till around 11pm. Does anyone know of any daycare or maybe even some ideas that might work? Ive already asked friends but its not possible and my parents both work full time as well. The dad isnt even in the picture so Im clueless. Please help me think of some kind of possibility

Where do you live?

I have a lot of friends who work at hospitals so this is pretty normal as they all do shift work. If you're not already at a hospital, try to find someone who is, and if they know of anyone. Or even ask your doc or nurses at the desk when you go in for a check up. Also think of other professions that do shift work, and rack your brain.

Another idea would be to see if your county has an inhome daycare licensing list and try names on there. Our town also has an inhome daycare providers org, where they each have little blurbs about their centers. See if your town has one too.

Maybe an in-home babysitter might work best for you, if you can afford it. Maybe a college student? Or maybe you can find a local connection with other single moms and see if there is someone who you could swap with (or a few people). Like you watch their toddler during a few daytime hours and they watch your baby a few nights. Also, see if your job can at least give yuo the same hrs each week so you can come up with a plan! Good luck!

If you go to the human and health services building ( where you go to file child support, medical assistance etc.)for your county, you can get a list of all daycares in your county, And im sure if you ask one of the people that work there who on the list does pm daycare also, im sure they can tell you or direct you to someone that can. I really hope this helps.

Just call around every daycare in town. I know of one in my area that is open from 5am until midnight 6 days a week.

Also check your state for a list of registered home daycares in your area. Since these are in people's homes, many of them are willing to extend hours if they don't already have themavailable.

Possibly a nanny? But you're a single mom so I'm not sure of affordability on that one.

Also just check around w/ everyone you know... coworkers, relatives, friends... perhaps one of them can, or knows of someone who can be this regular sitter w/ crazy hours for you.

You may have a coworker, who's cousin stays home w/ her own kids who is willing to help you out!! (or something like that... you just don't know until you ask around)

Good Luck!!

You will probably just have to find an individual licensed in child care and have them come to your home or you go to their home for the night care.
