I just got called into the director's office today because she wanted to know if i knew where one of our policies was. That's very insulting to me because its on the webpage, and im the ONLY one at work that knows how to update the webpage. I do the updates every month, and i probably know where some stuff is that she doesnt. Anyway, who does she think put it up there in the first place???

I know! What's wrong with her? Doesn't she know that place would totally fall apart wthout you? Next time she calls you in, it better be to give you a raise, damn it!

Why is she asking you? Is she being sarcastic? Some upper management executives have a lot to remember and she may not realize that you do know. I understand how you feel. Been there. But I have also been trying to see it from the other side. I am in an MBA program. It's amazing how challenging being a manager can be. But I will see communication seems to be a lost art. How many times have you heard, "I don't know if you..." instead of him or her asking you a direct question. That drives me bonkers. Just ask if you don't know. It's like they can't stop talking.

Yes, you can rant. I would just think some negative thoughts about her and then be done with it. I wouldn't allow myself to be highly insulted by her. OF COURSE you know stuff she doesn't. Very few directors are on top of a majority of important things. Its Monday. Take it easy, it will be over soon and you can go kick up your feet.

Take a breath...she wasn't trying to insult you.
This is a common way of asking someone for help.
Often ,women don't like to be as direct as a man might so we tend to couch our questions.

Yea, that would bother me, i would let her know that i make sure eveything is updated every month. Maybe next time she will look instead of ask!

I guess the reason she asked you is because you're the one that knew where it was. Maybe she didn't know where to look.
