Rudy G is going to have a very difficult job getting his own parties nomination for President. There are a lot of things in his past that doesn't sit well within his own party, not to mention there owuld be a complete change from the establishment that the republican community has grown into under the Bush administrations leadership of the party. Rudy will not do well in the southern states that the republican party survives in.

Rudy won't win, and won't even carry New York. He became mayor only because his predecessors were perceived as ineffective. And others could have provided leadership during 9/11 that was just as effective.
The only choice will be made before the election: Will it be Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton? In either case, the US will finally return to responsible government.

Giuliani is just as problematic for the Republicans as Romney or McCain. If they nominate Rudy, they'll be handing the election to the Democrats no matter who he picks as VP. His personal life reads like a cheap novel and he is too socially liberal. He's going to take a beating in the media from the first responders - who will increase their visibility if he's nominated. I sort of feel about Giuliani like some of the Republicans feel about Clinton - as in please nominate him, that's a guaranteed win for the Democrats.
