80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

I have two pictures on my wall that draws the attention of new visitors. One is a picture of my best friend and I at the age of five years old smiling hand in hand(in black and white), the other is of us standing together at the age of 61. After all these years many of which we had lost touch with each other every decade or so simply by accident we would run into each other again. She had lived all over the world and we ran in totally different circles. I on the other hand stayed in the same city although I left to go to school and returned. We both had married raised our families and had became widows. Last time we met accidentally on a bus and was drop dead astonished to discover we were living around the Conner
from each other for months! The last time I heard from her she was going to New Orleans to visit her family. That was around the time hurricane Katrina struck. I am sorry to say I have not heard from her since although I have tried to find her on the Internet. We were closer than most sisters and if I was to walk down the street one day and she was walking in my direction I would say the true meaning of life is Love family and friends and mine had come full circle!

the meaning of life, is not a simple thing.it seems to change for certain people, but really it doesn't everyone that lives wishes to be happy, and to be around happy people. the meaning of life there for is to be happy.
if there is a heaven, if there is an after life that's what it is, after life, after today, so don't worry about what might be down the road, just know that if you want to be happy today, you must work on it today, you must try to be happy today, and to make others happy as well.

the meaning of life is a process of learning, falling, getting up and making the best of it after you learn your mistakes.to have a good support system,to understand yourself,go after a goal or dream that make yourself happy, understand what you want to do,to be dependent, your own person as well as wiser as the years pass by,to be a better person, someone who has been there and done that, falling in love, getting an education, having fun,not taking things for granted.there is no one definition what life is yet to me it is what is listed above as well as:never to stop learning,to do your absolute best, never to give up as well as to enjoy the simple things in life that make you the happiest.i guess that covers it.

The meaning of life is in the dictionary.
"Meaning" refers to the definitions of words. Meaning is a language issue.
Although philosophers of language (and linguists) academically debate the finer points, "meaning," "semantic reference," and "denotation" are synonymous terms.
"Life" does not mean "money." However, "money" and "currency" are considered synonymous.

Well, according to the late great Kurt Vonnegut, we were all put on this earth to fart around. He said don't let anybody tell you any different.

always be generous, always tell those you love how much you appreciate them, don't eat anything that was going to eat you first, and never bet on the white guy.
