u cant rollback a retail bought vista machine so watever on that ... the only drawback u may run into is lack of xp driver support by the manufacturer so locate xp drviers before u nuke it .. and i wouldnt worry about lack of xp support either it will be at least a couple of years before software support will begin to wane and updating xpsp2 isnt even necessary imo ... i dont even bother on my machines and they run great as-installed... anything u might need like netframework is readily available from multiple sources as are security applications .. all for free ...

Other than making sure you have all the right drivers, the main drawback would be the restore function. Most likely you have a separate partition on your hard drive with the Vista installation package on it.
Several OEM's are now offering XP Pro as alternative to Vista. Maybe you could contact customer service and ask about trading in Vista. Apparently there's no shortage of complaints so they may have a policy in place. Never hurts to ask.

You must buy XP Recovery disks from the vendor, to avoid driver problems, not a store-bought XP disk. The Vista Recovery disks may be ON the hard drive, so Read The Friendly Manual FIRST to find out how to make your own Vista Recovery disks.
Other than that, no drawbacks. XP will be supported at least until 2012. Remember to back up all your personal data!!!

Yes The draw back would be if you have HD Sound or video. You can wipe vista off and put on Xp but make sure you find all the drivers for xp first and backup vista onto a dvd based on the name brand you can use there cd to put xp onto the new system...

There are no draw backs in rolling back your operating system. The only caution being that support for windows XP will not last long. Microsoft may decide to discontinue support for Xp as they have done for windows 98 at a date which could be earlier than that for vista.

Usually, when you install newer version, installer packs older version in special folder because of possibility of restoring of old version (you can see this folder in disc cleanup frame). But vista is newer than XP pro and the only way is to reformatting HD and then install XP. Think three time about usefulnes of this operation before you perform it. Veradisca & Best Regards, Neven.

Make sure you dl and save the drivers for network card, video card, and sound card at the minimum. Make sure you have the license code for XP. DO you have a boot disk, floppy or CD with DOS. Do a clean install, fdisk, and reformat the HD.
