I've seen a few movies that I liked (Superbad was pretty fun as the last one I saw, Idiocracy on dvd was pretty cool, a smart, dumb movie if you know what I mean), but I haven't really been blown away in a while. I really enjoyed the Science of Sleep that we caught on dvd recently, that would probably be the winner over the last few months. Zodiac, though it was very slow, was good too.
I haven't caught Pan's Labyrinth yet, but it is somewhere in the top 3 of the mental to rent list that my wife and I have going.
I know it's a tv show, thus not a movie, but we've been getting into Weeds season 2 and that is the best thing our dvd player has gotten it's hands on in a while.

i finished going to the theaters some years in the past. I forever finally end up with somebody with a screaming toddler close to me. And the sound is purely too loud. And if I ought to pass to the restroom I omit area of the movie. and the tickets, popcorn and soda's fee too lots. Watched 4 video clips on DVD interior the final 24 hours. Overboard, 6th experience, Sling Blade and Shawshank Redemption.

lots of good movies I've seen recently but since you asked for great movie... perhaps the last time I saw a great movie in movie theatre it would be Ratatouille.
On DVD... a Swedish classic by the recently deceased master Ingmar Bergman - Cries and Whisper. Ridiculously brilliant movie.

300 was fantastic. Honestly, the last movie that really impressed me was Identity. It ws the 1st in a long time that I hadn't predicted the ending, let alone the most of the story along the way.
