She could get a work permit and work at a retail store or grocery store, or there is always babysitting, yard work, or cleaning houses in the neighborhood.

Are you familiar w/ Craigslist? Your daughter can advertise her service online for free. It's very popular here in Austin. Does she enjoy children? She's the perfect age to babysit. If you make fliers or post anything on the internet, put your name (the parent) as the contact. You can monitor who she talks to!!! Also, if you have a community pool, she could hand out fliers to mommy's there. She could also spend time w/ the elderly in the neighborhood and possibly do some light housekeeping / laundry??? It wouldn't pay much but it would mean a lot to an elderly person. Dog walking or sitting, both good ideas. And, she can mow lawns too! Have her go w/ her brother, she can help :)

Dog walking or baby sitting are probably the best, or give her money for doing chores around your house. My mom used to give me like $6 for washing a car, $5 for mopping/vacuuming, $10 for mowing the yard, etc. 14 year olds really dont need that much money... Also money for getting good grades! As far as advertising, you can put flyers on the doors around the neighborhood or take an ad out in the newspaper or on craigslist, but be VERY CAREFUL with sending your 14 year old daughter to strangers houses! Go with her to meet them!

I live in Pennsylvania and used to be a manager at McDonald's. We could hire 15 year olds. They just weren't allowed to do much but fill orders. So maybe wait a few months and try that. And like everyone else said, babysitting is perfect for a 14 year old. Advertise dog walking by having her make a flyer and stick it in mail boxes around the neighborhood.

My daughter is 15 and in the same boat. She cleaned my neighbor's house yesterday and earned $30. Maybe she could make some signs or hand out a few flyer's, or even knock on doors (only people you know unless you are with her). Maybe babysitting? Wash cars for neighbors. Things like that she can do. Good luck!

really? I was working at 12...babysitting, they make GREAT money these days, put out flyers door to door, walking dogs...my BF's 11 yr old daughter makes 30 bucks for 1 day of walking..2 times a day...
my son at 7 sold our home grown tomatoes door to door via a wagon...there are lots of enterprising ways for a 14 yr old to make money. also, lots of pizza places, pay under the table to 14 yr old waitresses. where there is a will, there is a way...good luck to her, and tell her to put on her thinking cap!!

If you could give her a small amount of money to invest and get her started, she could make some simple craft jewellery (for example) and sell it at local or nearby weekend car boot sales or other... you might be providing her with business accumen and incentive which could see her being a millionaire in her early twenties... you'd need to stress the requirement that she reinvests though, and of course has to put the time and effort into what she's doing. There's loads of craft kits available quite cheaply.

You can work at 14 as long as you have a workers permit which some schools provide or you can call (614) 644-2239 and websites are www.youthrules.dol.gov and www.com.state.oh.us for more info about it the law says you CAN work at certain places with it. however if she is good with kids baby siting sounds good but if not maybe at like fast food places like Burger King or do a paper rout if noting here helps google "what can a 14 year old girl do for a job"

good luck

baby sitting is the first thing that comes to mind. dog walking would be good to, put flyers up around town or put an ad in the paper. she could also mow grass thats not just a boys job ya know.

Could she do anything that might involve a small investment. For instance have a home business where she scans and organizes peoples photographs or rips peoples music some portable device she can return to them. Outline boundaries in a simple contract, nudity, language, etc. This would also be a great learning experience, and I need someone to scan my photos for me.
