I have a 3 month old and am exclusively breastfeeding. I believe I have already been having periods. I was talking to my friend the other day about how this 'period' was weird and I couldn't figure out if I really did have period or not. I bled just a little (brown tint) for 2 days. She looked at me like I was crazy. I asked why the look and she said it sounded like implantation bleeding. So, now I'm just thinking, if I was pregnant while breastfeeding, how would I know without taking a pregnancy test? If I take one, I'll take a hundred, and I just don't know. It's only been 3 months since I had a baby. 7 weeks since the end of the 6 week post partum bleeding. My breasts are always tender because I'm breastfeeding. Should I wait to see if I have a another 'period' should I just take a test? What would you do and what do you think I should do? Me and my husband are always doing it.

If you just had the implantation bleeding, I'd wait at least a week before taking the test. Then you won't have to worry about it being too soon to show up. It's possible to get pregnant as soon as six weeks after delivery, so you've had plenty of time. And don't be fooled by the myth that breast feeding prevents pregnancy. It doesn't. As to what I would do, unless I wanted to be perpetually pregnant, I'd get on some birth control!

My period was all screwed up until my daughter recently. I stopped breastfeeding my daughter when she turned 11 months. Since then my body is still trying to get on track. I would seriously wait about 3 weeks and if you haven't gotten a period, take a pregnancy test. GOOD LUCK!

Take a test to ease your mind, but keep this in mind also. It is common, especially early on, to not have a period while you are breastfeeding. I breastfed my daughter exclusively, and did not have a real period until she was 6 months old. I would get some spotting here and there, but no real period.

sounds like she is definitely pregnant. ----call the doc and ask how much HcG they test for (the minimum amt needed for a positive) and then check the box to see the level the urine tests were looking for, if the doc test is higher then her range is somewhere in between. false positives are very rare., and 5... well I've never heard of 5 positives w/o true pregnancy.

You should just take a test to be sure. While breastfeeding your cycle won't happen or it won't be normal. it will also take awhile to get in a pattern even after you stop breastfeeding.

It's normal. Don't worry to much unless you have been sexually active with no protection. Your period can be missed for a long time while your breastfeeding.

Its just a different color and a little wonky because youve been off it for a while. The blood that is coming now is old blood so it will look brown and sometimes black. Its completely normal and nothing to worry about. they will be irregular for awhile as well since you havent had one in a long time.

You'll need to get a blood test to be sure! I wouldn't mess around because you'll need to take extra care of yourself if you are pregnant again. If you're having periods already, you could definately be pregnant. It happened to my aunt that way.
