I was fine with them staying with us for a short time or heck even being there when he's home. They now have a key and my roommate is completely ignoring my requests that they vacate. I live in Portland, Oregon. I believe Oregon allows individuals who are not on the lease just 6 weeks to stay if they have no intention of getting on the lease. Any info is much appreciated.

sounds like you may have to call the police and have them taken out of your apartment...only the people who sigh the lease are allowed to live there so the bums gotta get out

If you are on a month to month lease, tell your roommate that you want your roommate along with you to sign a a 30 day notice to move and give it to the homeless persons. Tell your roommate, that if he/she does not agree, you will move. You then may want to give your landlord a 30 day notice that you are moving. Do this in writing.

If you are on a one year lease, and your co-tenant will not agree to the 30 day notice, tell your landlord about the violation of the lease agreement. Get the landlord on your side. It is time for you to split from your co-tenant. Usually there is an occupancy limit for an apartment. Read your lease. I know this may be difficult, but there may be some nuggets of gold in there.

If the 30 day notice is given, and they do not move, you may have to go to small claims court to get them evicted by the sheriff.

Voilence is an ugly thing, but it's these kind of situations which call for the threat and/or the reality. One can NOT allow one's living space to be compromised, ever!

I'd be looking to move. Your roommate doesn't sound too stable! Most homeless people are that way due to mental illness and the fact that the government won't house them anymore! ;-)=

Report it to your landlord. Whos paying for the food and such? As Ann Landers says "You can't be taken advantage of unless you allow it".

Kick the bums out. Or tell the landlord he/she will do it. Enuff already!

I don't really know your situation but you can do it yourself! Tell the landlord and he will do it.
