I was at work at a photo lab. I had a radio at my desk, and I was listening to a morning talk show, like usual. The host suddenly said he had a news bulletin, and said a plane had hit one of the twin towers in New York. At first he thought it was an accident, like a small plane had flown into it. I remember walking around telling the other employees about it. Then the news reports kept coming about how it was so much worse than that. Someone went home and got a small t.v. so we could keep track of what was going on. I also remember how erie it was that all planes in the country were grounded. Terrible, terrible day.

I was at work. The guy who ran the sales team got a call from his wife telling him about a plane that flew into the first tower. After a few minutes some of us went into the conference room to check the news. We saw the second one. Most of us spent the day glued to the TV, trying to reach people we knew up there. I remember around 2 PM the Regional VP told everyone to go home and be with their families. First thing I did when I got home was make sure the family members who travelled often were all safe and sound.

We (my spouse and I) were down in Los Angeles. We were on a buying trip, for our business. We were in a motel, and had just woken up. As I walked across the room, I flipped on the TV. on the way to open the drapes, to let the light in.
As I turned back around, the second plane hit. I looked at it and at first I thought I was watching a movie. Then they said that a second plane had hit the Twin Towers, in NY. I was so shocked that I kind of just slumped down to a sitting position on the bed and stared flabergasted at the TV. I was in such shock that I couldn't even say anything, I just sat there and watched the whole thing unfold. We both sat there in bed and did not really even speak, as we could not believe what we were seeing. After a while we did have to get up, get dressed and continue on with our day. But it was really hard to try to transact business and buy stuff, with that on our minds. And everywhere we went that day. Everybody was glued to their TV's and very quiet and not talking a lot. I was so happy to get home after that trip.

i had been asleep, on the west coast, when my brother called and told me turn on the TV.

In a stupor, I asked what channel? He just yelled, any of them. He's not prone to losing his cool so I ran to the front room and turned on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit.

My first thought was that a terrible error with flight controls or radar was happening, until I heard the report that a plane had also hit the Pentagon and another crashed in Penn.

i didn't know what to do. I just sat dumbfounded. I went and got my infant daughter and held her, I didn't want to let her go. I sat glued to the TV for the rest of the day with my wife and Daughter.

Making sales calls from my couch and watching the Today show.

When they went to the live shot of the first tower behind Matt Lauers shoulder, I just kept talking to the pitch.

Then when the second plane swooped in, I hurredly stammered, "something came up, I'll call you back" and turned up the volume on the TV.

I watched my businesses future crumble right along with the towers. I also knew that we Americans would never have true freedom ever again.

Never will forget it.

Painting and listening to the radio, in Johannesburg. The radio host interrupted her sentence, saying;- "oh my gosh, I've just seen a plane fly into one of the Twin Towers!" CNN, was obviously on in the studio.

I jumped up and switched on CNN and saw the second one hit. I called out to my flatmate who was in bed with flu, to come into the lounge, which she did with all her bedding.

I will never forget that day. We watched till 12 that night. It was almost surreal, as if we were watching a Stephen Spielberg movie. That's the only way I can describe it.

I was with our Foriegn Military Logistics crew and was doing a project on a U.S. Navy destroyer we were getting ready to turn over to Turkey. One of the sailors called down to us in the space below. We went up and watched in horror as a second plane slammed into the second building. After a few minutes, we all went back below. One of the guys from a company we have done many projects with made a smart a.s.s. remark and laughed about the people in the planes and building and pictures of folks jumping. I grabbed him by the throat and slammed him against the bulkhead. Two of my guys had to pull me off him. After lunch we were asked to leave the ship and leave the Norfolk Naval Base...all was being secured.
Two days later we were asked to volunteer to help our food handling crew to load food onboard the USS Roosevelt CVN-71 that was getting underway for the Persian Gulf/Indian Ocean on 9/19/01. We reported at 6 a.m. and were shuttled to the naval base. Our crew was on the second shuttle and we didn't get to leave until after 10 a.m. because that's when the first bus got back. The security was so tight, the bus and passengers were searched. Traffic was backed up on Hampton Blvd all the way back to the Midtown Tunnel.
We put in over 17 hours that Thursday (once we got to the ship) and went back Saturday for over 10 hours, and made some pretty good overtime, but I know OUR four man crew of the Foreign Military Logistics section would have gladly done it for free (we talked about that later).

I was getting ready for work in the bathroom. The radio was on "Mark and Brian". They were talking about the twin towers being hit by a plane, when it happened again and the building burst into flames! I went and turned on the television. I couldn't believe that this was happening. I thought it was the end of peace on American land.

I was on my way back to my apartment from a science lab. I had gotten out early, and my dad called me on my cell phone. At first I was like "why are you calling me to tell me this at 9 in the morning?" But when I got to my apartment I realized why. That was about 10 minutes before the second plane hit.
