I have a 1981 CB250N and i want to re-ring it.

Ive got a reasonable selection of tools, and mechanical knowhow, just really after some info on the special tools I might need etc.

Purchase a shop manual.
You'll need it for torque specs
Valve clearances
Cam timing
Piston ring end gap
Piston to cylinder clearance
There are a lot of things you should adhere to - it's not as simple as just throwing a set of rings on the piston.

you will need a torqeu wrench, and a ring puller to get the new ring onto the piston, you dont really eed any special tools besides a torqeu wrench, andi didnt even use one and my mine still ran fine when i changed the ring

my guess would be that,based on the age,the cylinder would need to be bored or at the very least,honed.Have you checked on the availability of parts?
